Stina Katherine Højrup

Licensed psychologist

About me

I am a licensed psychologist and graduated from the University of Copenhagen in 2014.

I have many years of experience working with crisis-related and existential issues, and I am particularly dedicated to helping people live authentic lives and regain their sense of self after traumatic experiences.

I have previously worked within specialized crisis psychology services for both children and adults, including at the Centre for Victims of Sexual Assault, as well as in municipal and NGO settings.

In addition to my Master’s Degree in Psychology, I have completed two postgraduate trainings in Compassion-Focused Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I believe that psychological growth arises through self-understanding and self-compassion. My role is to support you in expanding and deepening your own story, so that you can find meaning and new possibilities for action in the situation you are facing.

My therapeutic focus areas

Sexual trauma

I specialise in therapeutic work with sexual trauma, whether it stems from childhood or adult experiences. In therapy, we focus on integrating the trauma, helping you gradually come to terms with what you have been through and develop a fuller life story that honours your strength and vitality.

Attachment and Relationships

Drawing on attachment theory, I can help you understand the ways in which you relate to others. Gaining deeper insight into your own attachment patterns can be highly beneficial in breaking recurring dynamics that create difficulties in romantic relationships and friendships.

Existential Crises

At certain points in life, we may lose our sense of meaning and direction. When life feels as though it is coming undone, it can be profoundly healing to have support in finding your way back to your vitality, inner strength, and sense of purpose.  Together, we can strengthen your life story so that it once again holds space for hope and the courage to live fully.

Self-worth and Stigma

I have specific insight into how stigma related to body, mind, sexuality, or ethnicity can impact self-worth. In therapy, we will work with strategies to navigate a society that can be challenging to fit into, and I will help you embrace yourself so that you can feel pride and dignity.

Online Therapy

Sessions with me take place online or by phone. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person sessions. For many, it also offers the advantage of greater flexibility, since it allows you to receive support without the need for travel or time away from work/study.
